'there are lifetimes here: in the body' is a photographic exhibition inviting viewers on the vivid journey back to oneself. At the heart of his work, Adewumi uses the landscape of his body - the Black male body - to reconcile a life perforated with racial violence, sexual objectification, and cultural dislocation. in the body fleshes out the slippery experiences leaving one naked and alone down dark paths into the open. Adewumi’s use of photography and self-portraiture renders flesh and spirit as a bold statement against a society erecting itself on the demise of Black gay men.
